Despite the blanket of snow on campus, faculty were still able to join Digital Learning Days for a series of AI workshops and consultations. The day featured a rise in interest in uses of AI for research purposes, from interrogating one’s own corpus of research through a custom GPT to redesigning assignments.
Each 30-minute guided workshop focused on AI in faculty research and teaching, from designing assignments to adopting AI-powered research practices to building their own GPTs or assistants. Three sessions ran simultaneously in break-out rooms and participants moved freely between them. You can see resources from each session here:
- Using AI in your Research
- CNDLS Guide to Building your own GPT
- Designing Assignments with AI in Mind
The event began with a brief overview of how to talk to your students about AI, and CNDLS shared resources including Discussing AI with your Students: Guidelines and Policies.
In the afternoon, CNDLS and UIS Ed-Tech staff worked one-on-one with faculty to help them prepare for the semester.
